Strict infection control procedures will continue at Hailsham Medical Group as we continue to do our utmost to protect our patients and colleagues against COVID-19. We are supported in this by the Academy of Royal Colleges (senior doctors from all specialties)
We are seeing more positive swab results from the Hailsham community every week.
While the government and media focus on hospital admissions and deaths, the potentially long-term disabling effect on some survivors of COVID-19 is also having a huge impact, and can affect anyone.
If COVID infection is brought into the surgery, it affects our ability to provide medical services. We are not currently exempt from Track and Trace and can be ordered by them to work from home. We are all immunized, use PPE and do twice weekly lateral flow tests but can still potentially catch infection from our patients and pass it on to vulnerable patients and our colleagues and families.
We will continue to offer a range of appointment types, as we have throughout the pandemic. Many conditions can be suitably assessed over the phone or by other means. Face to face appointments will continue to be offered when needed.
We respectfully ask that you follow this guidance and thank you for your cooperation:
- Continue to wash your hands, use alcohol hand sanitizer, wear a face covering in our surgery buildings and keep your distance from other people.
- Please only attend the surgery after discussion with staff.
- Please only attend if there is no possibility that you have COVID-19 infection
- If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever, loss of sense of smell or taste, headache, sore throat, muscle aches, cold symptoms, diarrhoea etc), you must do a proper PCR test and await the result before going out into the community. Lateral flow tests (instant tests) are only for screening for people with no symptoms.
Welcome to Hailsham Medical Group
Welcome to the website of Hailsham Medical Group, a General Practice Surgery located over two sites in Hailsham, near Eastbourne in East Sussex, England.
This surgery website is used to present all of our patients with up-to-date news and information about our practice. We will keep it current with any developments and other details that we feel are relevant to you.
Hailsham Medical Group is part of your NHS, and with this website we aim to provide up to date, and accurate details regarding the surgery (staff, appointments, news), and helpful information with queries that you may have (repeat prescriptions, treating common illnesses).
In our contacts section, you will find contact details for the surgery itself, as well as for some related NHS facilities in the Sussex region.
With Covid-19 meaning we can only see patients in the surgery if absolutely necessary, we'd urge you to use Engage Consult, our online consultation system to tell us about your problem and request medical advice, or ask an admin question.
Any clinical requests submitted before 8am, will be dealt with the same day within surgery hours (8am-6:30pm). Any admin queries submitted before 10am, we aim to reply within 24 hours. This short video will explain more about Engage Consult.
At the moment, demand may mean this could take longer so please don’t contact us until the following day if we haven’t responded to you, unless you are getting worse.
PLEASE NOTE any digital image submitted as part of an online consultation will be stored within your clinical notes.
